Tribute - Neil Elvis
An ongoing documentary project begun in October 2011, Tributes tracks the visual transformation of a variety of tribute artists in the UK. The lengths the performers go to in aping their musical idols and luminaries not just vocally, but in appearance, can be extraordinary.
In this particular series, Neil makes himself up as Elvis, donning theatrical wig with special skin glue, fake tan and the requisite Elvis jumpsuit.
Although I have met few Elvis tribute artists (though it appears they are the most common) I would say that Neil is a special Elvis in that he attempts to learn and perform a huge number of some near-700 songs Elvis recorded during his long career. Not solely to appeal to a potentially wider Elvis fan-base, but to set himself a long-term challenge with enough diversity to stave off boredom for his own lengthy career.
