Dementia Dog - Scotland
Another Dementia (Dog) May 2013
Another commission from the kind folk at Multi Adaptor. Such a genuinely brilliant, heart-warming project. Ever heard of a Dementia Assistance dog? Neither had I until this job. The idea of the Dementia Dog was born out of a Design Council challenge that posed the problem of how to improve the quality of life in a meaningful way, for people living with dementia. The successful pilot scheme was an assistance dog that could provide invaluable benefits in terms of companionship, exercise, socialisation and assistance with medication routines for people with dementia.
Enlisted to take documentary images of the dog training centre in Forfar, Scotland, as well as the dog interacting in a domestic setting, I was looking to create natural, intimate images that placed an emphasis on the dog's role and its abilities.
